Ritz-Carlton Beijing Winter Wedding Fair

30 Nov

It’s a gorgeous deep-blue-sky day in Beijing again today, hooray! The fresh air and sunshine is doing wonders for my mood 🙂

Here are some pictures from the Beijing Winter Wedding Fair held at the Ritz-Carlton last Saturday.  The Ritz-Carlton put on a beautiful show which included a collection of wedding gowns from British designer Jenny Packham and L.A based couture fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, plus the eponymous Lusso Couture Fur collection (a collaboration between menswear designer David Ubl and Lusso creative director Sasa Lin). The event included Sasa Lin for Harper’s Bazaar Jewelry, D-SATA by CuR, and Bobbi Brown, and guests had a chance to talk to make-up experts, or browse through gorgeous displays of  jewelry and wedding dresses after the show.  I’ve posted a few pictures of my favourite dresses for you to see – what do you think of the designs?

Close up shots of what I wore will be posted tomorrow! 🙂 Happy Hump Day all!

Woollen sweater + German Christmas market!

29 Nov

Hello lovely readers! 🙂 I wanted to say a big thank you to those who sent me kind words of support on my nzgirl.co.nz articles, I appreciate it so much!

Here I am wearing one of my new woollen sweaters – a fairly casual outfit I chose for visiting the German Christmas market on Saturday 🙂 The Christmas market is an annual event held at the German Embassy, where you can buy Christmas decorations, slurp cold beer or hot glĂŒhwein, make donations or purchases to support local charities, enjoy decorated gingerbread cookies and warm apple cider, and try different kinds of German snacks. That reminds me: fresh-out-of-the-oven pretzels (‘bretzel’) are SO delicious! 😉 It was the first time I’ve really felt like Christmas is getting close – and as you can tell I was pretty excited by the Christmas advent calendar my lovely friend Malaika bought for me, haha! 😉

I really need to get on to my Christmas shopping (can you believe it’s December on Thursday already!). Have you started? Whats your secret to present shopping? I always find it so difficult! 🙂 Well I hope you are having a wonderful start to your Tuesday, and will see you again tomorrow!

Winter wool :)

28 Nov

Apologies  for lack of posting on the weekend again.. it was seriously hectic and I hardly had time to sit down in front of my computer! I have a lot to share with you later, but first I would like to introduce my new woolly friends! I love big knits in winter, but a lot of the ones found in chain stores are acrylic. Beijing winters are super dry, and dry+acrylic = crazy static hair and mini electric shocks! Not the best look.. haha 😉 The solution was found in a tiny store called ‘i.f’ newly opened on Xiaoyun Lu around the corner from my apartment. This place stocks great knits and sweaters either imported from Korea, or made here in China in Hangzhou – and sold at very reasonable prices. Best of all, they are 100% wool – soft, warm, and static-free! 🙂 I will do an outfit post with these soon.. I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I got them! 🙂

Hope you’ve had a good weekend, and your Monday is full of good things! 🙂 Continue reading

NZGirl.co.nz

25 Nov

TGIF! This week has been looooong, but thankfully the weekend is now in sight! 🙂

I have just started publishing fashion-related articles on NZGirl, and wanted to share them with you! My BFF (yes – BFF, we have known each other for 16 years and she’s awesome! hehe 😉 ) introduced me to this site – NZGirl is a platform for all things fashion, beauty, entertainment, food, technology, health and wellbeing related. The site contains reviews, recommendations, and reader articles, and is a great way to share new finds or ideas. Obviously the website began with a New Zealand readership in mind, but I say why stop there! If you’re interested in product reviews, recipes, or fashion finds,  you should definitely check it out or get involved!

If you want to check out my articles, you can find them here and here. If you have a second to click the ‘mark as  fave’ button or leave me comments, I would be excited to get your feedback and would appreciate the support! I will also look to publish articles on other inspiring bloggers, so leave me a comment and I might feature you!

Polka dots + pencil skirt

24 Nov

Sun, glorious SUN! Yesterday was one of those brilliant, deep blue sky days which – despite an icey wind – made me feel so HAPPY to be alive!! 🙂 Here are a few pics of my outfit yesterday – taken by the lovely and ever patient Sally Benson (thanks babe!) 😉  A bit more formal yet fun for the office… polka dots rock, that’s all there is to it! Haha see ya tomorrow folks! 🙂 Continue reading

Pink sweater + GungHo! Pizza

23 Nov

Last week I was at GungHo! Pizza’s ‘family’ opening, to celebrate the launch of their second branch in Beijing in just one year! Getting into the spirit of things, I wore my brightest pink sweater – well, no actually this was a total accident and became a bit of a joke that night..haha! 😉 Definitely recommend a visit to this joint if you’re in the Lido neighbourhood, they have a great culture of fresh food, friendly service, and attention to detail!

Lunch break for me now! Beijing is bright and sunny but blowing a freezing cold gale… hope you’re wrapped up and warm whereever you are! 🙂

Pink skirt

22 Nov

So apparently this week we are supposed to get snow! I’m kinda excited for snow, although unfortunately in Beijing it tends to quickly turn to a black, slushy mess… but still, hooray for snow! I will need to be more careful in my outfit choices… my apartment tricks me with its cosy warmth, and if the sun is blazing away outside I’m reluctant to believe I need anything thicker than a leather jacket (no one likes carrying around bulky jackets if it’s too hot, right?!)! That leads me to situations where I am waaay too underdressed – I’m not sure if you can tell from my face in these pictures , but I was actually pretty cold. Haha oops!

In other news, I have just voted in the New Zealand General Elections (overseas Kiwis vote early), and am very curious to see what the outcome will be from this weekend! It took me ages to make up my mind, but I’m happy with the my final choice 🙂 Finally, I will leave you with something a friend posted on his FB wall which I loved… smile at least 10 times a day at people you know and people you don’t know! Spread the love! 😉 Continue reading
